At a distance of 300 m from the beach lies the oldest lighthouse of Kerala. In the year 1862, under the rule of Rama Varma Maharaja of Travancore the construction of the lighthouse was finished. This served as an important trade centre and was among the busiest ports of Kerala. Today, the lighthouse still stands even after 150 years of its construction and serves as a captivating attraction for its visitors. Intriguingly, the lighthouse is still a manned station.
The ideal time to visit Alappuzha Beach is between October and February, as during this time it is not very humid and there is very little to no rainfall.
